Woodwalk Gallery, one of Wisconsin’s premier galleries, is looking to host a virtual, online exhibition providing exposure for amateur and professional artists working in 2D mediums. We seek pieces that demonstrate ingenuity and inspiration. We want to see art that shows talent, keen perception, heart and will evoke excitement and emotion and in some way embody your idea of a beautiful possibility. Winners will be given a chance to display their prize winning works during the opening two months of the 2021 Door County, WI. art season. The theme is very broad, so you have the opportunity to choose your very best work to submit to this juried show. The competition is open to all 2D artists residing in the USA whose work is on paper, canvas or some type of board. The artist can work in all forms of painting, drawing, print making, photography, hand pulled prints, collages, graphics and digital arts.

Prize money: 1st Place $500;  2nd Place $300;  3rd Place $100

In addition, the prize winning artists will be given the opportunity to submit their winning entry plus one additional piece (two total) for display in the gallery from May 1 through June 30, 2021.  Display, shipping information and commission fees will be sent to the winners after their selection.

Entrants must be 18 or over to apply.

All artwork must be original work of the artist.

Entries should have been created within the past 5 years and not previously shown in Woodwalk Gallery.

Woodwalk Gallery retains the right to reject and not consider any work that is deemed unacceptable and no refunds will be given for these entries.

This is a virtual exhibition that will be housed on the gallery’s website during the months of March and April 2021.  The show will be promoted through the gallery's social media outlets as well as their email bank, having a combined  total of approximately 3000 names or followers.  Each artist will have their own page in the show and viewers who click on the artist’s piece will be shown contact information for possible sale.  100% of the sale of any piece will go to the artist unless the artist would prefer that Woodwalk Gallery broker the sale.  In such case a fee of 25% will be retained by the gallery.

Entries and payment can only be accepted through the Cafe website prior to 11:59pm (Mountain Time, Denver) on February 1, 2021

For the juror’s convenience, we would suggest each entrant state the media used, such as acrylic paint, pastel, digital photograph, etc. after the title on the Cafe application.

Notification of acceptance to the artists will be during the 3rd week in February via valid email provided by each artist. If no email is provided, notification will be via United States Postal Service only to those artists that have been accepted into the virtual exhibition. Submitting artists are encouraged to make sure the email provided with the application is correct. If a mistake is made, you will not be notified. We believe because of the breadth of media available that this will assist the juror in his/her judging process.

Our juror for this show is Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive Director Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay, Door County WI.  She was previously Executive Director, Hardy Gallery Ephraim, Wisconsin, and her educational background is in museum studies and arts management.
