Milwaukee Sketch Club at Seven Bridges Trail in Grant Park 6/21/19

It was a beautiful sunny day. Surprisingly enough it did not rain. Hardly any mosquitoes. A lot of people walking. We took the high trail and the low trail along the river. Lot of reflections, light, and shade.

Here is a picture of us before we scattered to paint.

Thank you Terry for sending this picture!

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Heritage Farms in Mukwonago 6/14/19

Ten of us showed up to paint at Heritage Farms, https://www.heritageflowerfarm.com/
What a fantastic place! Betty, the owner was super nice and gave us a tour.

The day started out cloudy and over cast with some light rain but became sunny by the time we left.

Look closely. In almost every picture there is an artist or two.

Iconography/Calligraphy workshop June 8, 8:30am-12noon

From: margaret gruna <aimless6@hotmail.com>
Subject: Invitation to an Iconography/Calligraphy workshop

Dear Friends,
The School Sisters of St. Francis invite you to a spiritual and art workshop titled “The Sacred Monogram of Jesus” on Saturday, June 8, from 8.30 am to 12 noon, in St. Joseph Center. Please see the flyer attached and details below. We hope to see you at the workshop, and are grateful to you for helping us spread the word.

“The Sacred Monogram of Jesus” iconography workshop
Saturday, June 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon
St. Joseph Center, 1501 S. Layton Blvd. (Greenfield Ave. @ 27th St.), Milwaukee

On Saturday, June 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon, the School Sisters of St. Francis will be welcoming teens and adults to the workshop, “The Sacred Monogram of Jesus,” at St. Joseph Center.

Professional artist and iconographer Christine Jentz of Lumen Christi Art in Brookfield will present on the history of iconography and specifically on Jesus’ monogram (IHS), while guiding participants in creating sacred art as contemplative work. The experience will be both reverent and creative.

Participants will be tracing and “gold-filling” Ms. Jentz’s illustration of a filigreed monogram by using a gold pigment pen on vellum paper. The finished product will be ready for framing and can be a beautiful piece for communing with Christ contemplatively.

Opportunities to learn from an iconographer are rare. In fact, Ms. Jentz is one of few Americans who practice iconography as a vocation.

The class fee is $45. This workshop makes a great Father’s Day gift. Register today! Please send cash or checks written to:  School Sisters of St. Francis Outreach Events, c/o Donna O’Loughlin; 1501 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53215. Contact:  doloughlin@sssf.org or 414-385-5272. Convenient free parking is available in the St. Joseph Center lot at 29th St. and Orchard St.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Waterford Village Hall Park 5/23/19

We met at 213 Cafe on Main street but Main street was all tore up with construction so decided to go paint at the park on the Fox River.
Perfect day to paint outside. Warm, nice breeze, sunny, but lots of shade in the park.
