Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour

October 12 October 14, 2018
Friday 4 – 8 pm   |  Saturday 10am – 5pm  | Sunday  11am – 4pm

Your tour begins anywhere.
The Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour is a 36-year tradition for art enthusiasts. During this free self-guided tour through Ozaukee and Washington Counties, 45 Guild artists from Mequon to Newburg will open their studio spaces to the public.

Thirty-six years ago, this event began as a studio and gallery tour in historic Cedarburg. Today, it is a unique opportunity for people to get an up close and personal look at some of Southeastern Wisconsin’s finest artists and the spaces in which they work.

The colorful Autumn rural drive between locations encompasses farm fields, pumpkin patches, Lake Michigan shoreline, picturesque small towns and even a 1876 wooden Covered Bridge, one of the few remaining in Wisconsin.  And to add to the fun, many of the studio spaces are in restored stores, mills and barns.  Most of the artists will be creating art during the event. They are always happy to stop what they’re doing to greet visitors, talk with guests about their inspirations and artistic process and sell their artwork to interested buyers.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Delafield Fish Hatchery 9/21/18

Very windy, partly cloudy. Comfortable temperature. Nice Fall day.
Didn't wander into downtown Delafield but it has some interesting architecture.
Friday night there was an artwalk.

It looks like we could paint the pond from our cars in winter if we wanted to.

Next Friday outing is Greenfield park. If it rains we probably will go to a coffee shop.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Old Muskego Settlement 9/7/18

First we went to Badertsher Nature Center. Not interesting enough and too many mosquitoes.

Then we went to Muskego park but didn't feel like paying $5 to enter. So we went to the Old Muskego Settlement Center and it was just right. Interesting, free, and not many bugs.

Here's some of the crew. Guess what most of us painted/ sketched!

The church! This rarely happens.

Here's the view from the parking lot.
This might be a good place to come if we want to paint or sketch in our cars during winter.

p.s. I think I'm all caught up on posts unless anyone sends me pictures of their plein air adventures.

Milwaukee Sketch Club in Downtown Greendale 8/9/18

Terry, thank you for the pictures!

Downtown Greendale is very scenic. There's also a walking path with interesting looking houses behind downtown and across a small river.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Wadewitz Nature Center 8/2/18

We were up on a hill with picnic tables, cut grass, and a large parking lot. On the way in we saw some interesting buildings too.

What are you painting?
