The awards for the Richeson75 Small Works 2016 competition were presented this evening by Awards Juror Jeff Hargreaves. His comments follow each selection.
Juror's Statement:

When judging a show, it helps me to set up certain guidelines.  I will look for qualities like composition, drawing, media handling, texture, content or concept and finally, with all else aside, does the piece stand on it's own as a beautiful piece of art.  There are many, many pieces in this show that are great examples of all those points.  Having those guides helps me a great deal in my selections.

As usual, there are always many wonderful pieces to consider, to mull over, to come back to, to consider again and again, but mostly there are a lot of works that are nice to just sit and look at!  At the end of the day, I really like this show.  The quality of all the pieces made jurying this show enjoyable, interesting and very inspiring.
