from: jwhempel@hotmail.com

Hello All,

Next in my series of daylong workshops is one suitable for all levels: from beginners to the advanced artist. Whether you're looking for an introduction to the dynamic range and possibilties of charcoal portraits, or are ready to brush up and sharpen your seeing and drawing skills, this popular "famous faces" workshop is a perfect way to get into the studio and re-energize your creative process.
Portrait Drawing in Charcoal - A Common Sense Approach

We'll explore fundamentals of the portrait drawing process, this time using classic celebrity icons Jimmy Stewart, Audrey Hepburn & Grace Kelly as models.
We'll cover the portrait drawing process step by step, beginning with the quick establishment of a foundation of accurate proportions and key anchor points. We'll then proceed piece by piece, seeing and drawing the nuanced qualities of tone and edge to build an interlocking mosaic of shapes to create a vital likeness.

When: Sunday, Feb. 2nd,  or  Friday, Feb. 7th,  10:00 am - 4:00pm (with a 1/2 hr break for lunch)

Where: James Hempel Fine Arts
Milwaukee, WI  53204
