Milwaukee Sketch Club at Retzer Nature Center (Sat morning 7/31/10)

Even though we woke up to a dreary day that threatened rain we decided to head out and were glad that we went. Great views and scenery. However the mosquitoes were quite ferocious, one step down from breathing them in. You definitely needed pants, a long sleeved shirt and 100% DEET. Temperature was quite comfortable, between 70-80F and overcast. We hiked on a winding trail to the top of a hill so it was better to travel light.

This would be a great place to visit in fall on a sunny 50F day after a first frost has eliminated the mosquitos, so maybe late September to October.

On Saturday, Sept 18, 2010 Retzer center has an Apple Harvest Festival which might be a good time to vist as there are booths, musicians, a band, people, etc. http://www.waukeshacounty.gov/page.aspx?SetupMetaId=10720&id=29988
