Sketch Club Pot Luck Party 12/20/16

From: Thomas Piedt <piedt1@yahoo.com>

Hi  Everyone

Art and I  thought it would be enjoyable to have a pot luck party during sketch on Tuesday December 20th.
Members are invited to bring a dish that evening but should not feel obligated to do so. We understand that some members have hectic schedules.

Plates, cups, and plastic wear will be provided as well as beverages - wine, and a soft drink.

Come one come all - hoping for  a good turnout.

Oak Park Art League - Midwest Juried Exhibiiton: Elevating Nature

from:Julie Carpenter(oakparkartleague@gmail.com) <mailer@mail2.clubexpress.com>

Hello Artists, Educators, & Arts Organizations -
In May 2017, the Oak Park Art League will be presenting a Midwest Juried Exhibition that pays tribute to architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his iconic “Prairie” style, inspired by the natural environment and the American Midwest. The exhibition “Elevating Nature” is being presented in recognition of the architect’s 150th birthday, with exhibit dates coinciding with other Wright events that draw visitors from around the world to Oak Park.

Submission for this exhibition is open to artists from Midwest states including, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Artists are invited to submit 2D and 3D work of any media that references nature and/or the Midwestern landscape. Jurors Brian Ritchard and Brent Fogt will select works that embody the progressive spirit of Wright and the essence of the American Midwest. Over $2,000 in cash prizes for Best of Show and Juror Awards will be presented in two categories:
  • Most innovative interpretation of the Midwestern landscape
  • Best use or representation of natural materials or nature elements

For submission guidelines and entry to OPAL's “Elevating Nature” exhibition, go to:

Thank you in advance for sharing this call to artists with your community!

Kind regards –

Oak Park Art League
Founded in 1921, the Oak Park Art League (OPAL) is one of the longest, continually-running non-profit arts organizations in Illinois. OPAL fulfills its mission through its offering of high quality art education to people of all ages and skill levels, programs and guest lectures, artist demonstrations and critiques, plus monthly exhibition opportunities in our art gallery.

Located in the center of Oak Park’s Historic District, walking distance from Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed studio and Ernest Hemingway’s birth home, the Oak Park Art League's Carriage House Gallery is an important landmark and lends to a tri-part dialogue about the early 20th century regional influences in art, architecture and literature that continue to define Oak Park’s cultural landscape today.
