Mukwonago Farmer's Market plein air opportunity on Wednesdays 2-6pm at Field Park

Hi Y’all,

Here is an opportunity to paint on a Wednesday afternoon at Field Park in Mukwonago at the farmers market painting
produce, flowers etc..  Jim Mac Donald will set up a date, and please RSVP  to him if you will be attending.  Please read the email below.
See the attached photos.

  Hi Margo and Vivian.

I was thrilled to be in a painting class with Jim Hempel. Met many art friends there.
As I mentioned to Margo earlier, if any plein-air painters would want to get together on any Wednesday afternoon in Mukwonago, there is a great farmer's market with tons of subject matter to choose from.

I had considered going there anyway to do some sketches, but it would be great to have other artists on the shady grounds at Field Park and the vendors would love it. There are musicians, farmers selling produce and flowers out of the backs of their trucks, and market array of selections. The market is each Wed. from 2-6, and the Mukwonago Chamber would love to feature us artists if we had a date in mind.

Let me know if anyone is interested, and we will see what we can do. There are a few photos attached as samples.

PS: Went to the Muskego market and was very small. Mukwonago does a super job of attracting many diverse and well prepared vendors each week.

Regards,

Jim Mac Donald

Artist Talk

Darron Lillian is a plein air artist with a keen eye for composition whose rough texture and loose, individual strokes capture the immediacy of the moment. His artwork depicts the everyday landmarks of Wisconsin’s back roads and byways.

In contrast, Colette Odya Smith often eschews the use of the horizon line in her landscapes focusing instead on light filtering through trees and reflections on the water. Colette creates natural sanctuaries that are both realistic and otherworldly.

Together, they show their work at MOWA on the Lake at Saint John's On The Lake July 23–October 7.

Thank you John for the good pictures!

Boerner “Artists in the Gardens” Plein Air Painters! 9/12-13 free to participate

From: mary.prince88@yahoo.com

Attention Plein Air Painters!
New painters, have you been painting for fun and accumulating paintings in a drawer?
Experienced painters, do you have leftover paintings that have not sold?
Cedarburg Plein Air in June had a $50 entry fee and took a 40% commission. On the other end of the scale, the Racine Art Museum Plein Air (July 11) had an $8 fee and no opportunity to sell art.

Our new event lets you participate for free, and possibly win a garden-themed prize.
This is the weekend of Sept 12 and 13.

We also have plenty of space available in our Gallery Tent.
For a single $25 fee, you can show up to 4 of your nature paintings in a professional manner and sell to the public at a fun event.

If you are a ‘just for fun’ painter, this is your opportunity to sell for the first time; Imagine showing 4 paintings each inexpensively priced at $100, selling two and taking home $175.

If you are an experienced painter, remember there is no commission for our event. No matter your price, the Gallery tent fee is still only $25.

Once you have signed up for the Gallery tent, Plein Air painters on Saturday can bring a frame and have their new painting(s) on display the first day.  Paintings will be kept safe in the Garden Room overnight.

Plein Air painters starting on Sunday who wish to participate in the contest need to get paintings turned in by 1:30pm Sunday.

TV/radio host and columnist, renowned horticulturalist Melinda Myers will be judging how the artist has captured the “essence” of the subject.

Submissions: 1:30 , judging: 2:00 , awards: 2:30. Plants or gift cards will be awarded to the winners.

Please consider stepping up to the next level, and becoming a selling ‘Artist in the Gardens’!

Milwaukee Sketch Club outside Estacion Restaurant, Waukesha, Thursday morning 7/9/15

The nice pictures are John's. The washed out ones are mine.

Originally we planned to meet in the Student Union parking lot of Carroll University. However no parking was available there so we drove down the hill to the parking lot near the used bookstore. Then drove over to Estacion restaurant neighborhood.

We walked around to figure out where we wanted to paint and got to meet Butch, an 88 year old barber who cuts hair in the Caboose next to Estacion. I believe that he is open Tuesday - Saturday mornings. Estacion opened up at 11am.

Estacion Restaurant was originally a railway depot

.The 400 club where Les Paul played guitar is across the street along with the Spur Bar, possibly an old rooming house, and a hair cutting salon.

Very scenic neighborhood. Interesting buildings.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Hart Park Tuesday evening 7/8/15

70th St bridge
It has been a cool summer. Tonight was about 66F and partly cloudy. Some gnatty bugs down at river but mosquitoes not bad at all. About 6 of us showed up.

Hart Park is a great place to go because there is a lot of different places and things to paint. You can even paint people if you want, but you better be quick. Most of them are walking, biking, or jogging.

Milwaukee Sketch Club at Miniwaukan Park, 7/2/15

Tuesday evening group has been plein air painting. They were going to go to Schlitz Audubon Center to paint while Julie Thompson who models for us was singing with Dangerous Folk. Beautiful voice. However the admission charge was $8 so they switched back to the lagoon and dam at Grant Park.

Haven't heard from Wednesday or Saturday folk.

Thursday morning group went out. Temperature ranged from 60-66F, with a light breeze and sunny. Very nice day. Too many mosquitoes to paint by the river but regular cut grass park area was fine. One of the park workers moved the bright blue garbage barrel to a different location so it wasn't where we were painting.

Here's some pictures from John. Thanks!
