Member News Updates
Son of long-time member (and excellent artist) Mel has died.
Tess, Eric Karl Age 62. Passed away peacefully
on January 23, 2015 surrounded by his family. Beloved son of Melvin and
the late Shirley Tess. Dear big brother of Marna (Kent) Tess-Mattner,
the late Karyn Tess and Neil Tess. Loving father of Lillianne Tess.
Generous and kind nephew, uncle, cousin, "honorary" cousin/nephew and
friend. Eric proudly served in the U.S. Navy
for 28 years, then continued to serve as a civilian employee of
Milwaukee MEPS (Military Enlistment Processing Service). He was a Past
Worshipful Master of Henry L. Palmer Lodge #301 and a longtime member of
Globe Conservation Club. Eric loved hunting, fishing, watching movies,
repairing things and searching for bargains. He never met a stranger,
and his optimistic outlook on life, even during his many health
struggles in the past fourteen months, was inspirational to many.
Gathering at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2015, 10AM-12:45PM. Memorial Service by Henry L. Palmer Lodge #301 F.&A.M. at 1PM
followed by religious service. In lieu of flowers, Eric requested
memorials to Globe Conservation Club, Inc. or Zilber Family Hospice.
Many thanks to Brenda Pierce, M.D. and her staff and to the staff at
Zilber Family Hospice, for their gentle care and compassion during this
journey.

Pricing:
Sm card $3.00
LG card $6.00
Full size print $10.00
If you would like to purchase one or more prints or cards members can email Donna Heffler at dmheffler@gmail.com .

2015 A Blank Canvas! Happy New Year! from WIPAPA
from: WIPAPA mricl4hlth.aol.com@send.mailchimpapp.com via mail73.atl11.rsgsv.net
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
First I want to thank you all for your part in WIPAPA.
To the Artists: Everytime
any of you are outside painting and visible to another person it helps
to establish plein air painting in our state. I think we have made great
progress in 2014. More and more I am hearing "Oh I've heard of that."
instead of "What are you doing?"
To our Collectors: THANK YOU! Where would we be without you?
To the event Organizers!: Oh my goodness! How hard you work! We see you! We THANK YOU!!!
There were 16 competitions in Wisconsin last year and
I know we will be adding to that list this year. The first one of the
year is a WINTER event in Mineral Point the first week in February! I
have started a 2015 list of events on the blog. If you are an event director please get me your link asap! Many
artists plan work schedules and vacation time around your events and
some need to put in for vacation months before!!! So if you know you are
planning an event even if your site has a page saying "Save this Date!"
I need that link from you!!
Did
you know there is currently a Plein Air Exhibit at the Charles Allis
Museum? It will hang until January 25th so you still have time to see
it!
Also Watch this blog and mark your calendars for January 24: Our annual Winter Bash Party and Art Exchange!

As you plan your 2015 fair schedule,

celebrating its 2nd year. One feature that makes "BVAP" unique is we
are Milwaukee's only WEEKLY art
festival. We run for 12 weeks, every
Saturday June - Aug from 11-3pm. This
format provides flexibility for both artists who attend multiple events and
artists that seek a single venue to attend.
The festival is held at Zillman Park
on KK Ave, a park in the heart of the Bay View neighborhood providing great car
and foot traffic.
Amenities:
- Extra booth space
- Best Value booth fees
$230 Seasonal Vendor (all 12 weeks)
$150 Half Season Vendor (6 weeks)
$30 Daily Vendor - minimum of 2 dates. - No application fee
Our event will be advertised in print, social media, online event
calendars and flyers throughout the city.
The festival is focused on affordable
fine art with a limited selection of craft and jewelry artists so early submission
is encouraged. There is no price cap but
we ask that artists offer a number of works under $100 to keep art accessible
for all.
We will be posting and emailing the artist application January 2015.

WIPAPA: Thanks and a Reminder!
from WIPAPA mricl4hlth@gmail.com via mail75.atl11.rsgsv.net
What a great year we have had in Plein Air!
I just want to thank you all for your participation in WIPAPA this year and for helping to make the words "plein air" go from "What's that?" to "I've heard about that!" We have made great progress but we still have a long way to go!
Watch for info for our annual Winter Party and Art Exchange on January 24th....
I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and a fabulous 2015 in Paint!
Friendly reminder: If your 2015 dues are postmarked by Jan.1st they are $30 instead of $40!

from:
Richfield Art Fair <artfairrhs@gmail.com>
There is still time to take advantage of the discounted booth fee of $50 if you submit your application for Richfield Art at the Mill by January 17, 2015.
Richfield Art at the Mill is a juried art &
fine craft fair and a plein air painting competition to be held on July 25, 2015. This is the 7th year for this event. The fair
is held outside nestled among the trees and surrounded by historical buildings
in the beautiful Richfield Nature & Historical Park (Washington County.)
Amenities for
exhibiting artists:
- Ample space between booths
- Easy pull-up for unloading
- Reasonable $50 booth fee (on or by 1-17-15) or $60 (between 1-18-15 and 3-14-15)
- Low jury fee of $10 (two jury dates of 1-20-15 and 3-17-15 with artist notification one week after)
- Discount on food
- Booth reliever
- Free coffee/pastries during setup time
- Tickets for historic buildings tour located in the park
- Friendly staff
The quality of our fair is
very important which is why (beginning in 2015) we are jurying all submitted photos
at the same time. There are two
Deadline Dates (lst Deadline: 1-17-15 and 2nd Deadline 3-14-15). Jurying will take place right after each
deadline with artist notification approximately one week thereafter. This assures the best arts and fine crafts will
be selected for exhibit. The number of
like exhibitors will be limited as well to assure a better balance and variety. (For example, the number of jewelry
exhibitors will be capped at seven. So,
apply early for best chance of selection.)
Advertising is very
important for art fairs. This event will
be widely advertised in print, broadcast & social media and promoted through
many local businesses. We want to reach as many potential attendees as
possible. Free admission to the fair and the extra benefit of being able to
tour historic buildings are attractive factors.
An application form and
guidelines are attached and also available at:
www. richfieldhistoricalsociety.org .
(Home Page under 2015
Events.) Feel free to call or e-mail
with any questions.
Happy New Year!
