Milwaukee Sketch Club at Minooka Park 10/24/14

It was overcast and 55F but we had a good time. We walked around the pond until we found a scenic view where the wind was blocked by the woods.

Next week 9am Friday we plan to go to the Coach Inn, Brookfield (West side of Pilgrim Road, Just north of Moorland Road and Bluemound Ave) with a backup location of Brookfield Square.
--------

Hi all, We are planning to paint next Friday at Stage Coach Inn, 1075 Pilgrim Parkway in Brookfield. It does have some shelter from rain but no open bathrooms that I recall. We haven't painted there for quite a while.

However if the weather is really bad, (torrential downpour, sleet.....) we will probably go to Brookfield Square food court.

Autumn message from PMP

From: Paint My Photo <mail@paintmyphoto.ning.com>
9/12/14

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe it! September already! For those of us in the northern hemisphere, autumn starts to arrive. Lots of opportunity for photography, and painting, with those misty mornings and golden colors.

In this message I just want to highlight great things happening on PMP, and to extend a welcome to our many new members. Of course, our main resource remains the amazing collection of reference photos. Thank you photographers! Without your generosity this site would not exist!

Be sure to check out our free quarterly magazine, put together by Ruth Archer, this link takes you to a page on issuu where you can view the latest, and back issues, in a browser.

We have a lot of active groups now. If you are a photographer be sure to check out Gary’s ‘Art of Photography’ group. There are groups for artists in various media and styles. Many have their own challenges and discussions. See all the groups here.

Thanks to all of you who have supported the recent ‘Painting by Ear’ competition, the results will be posted soon, please have a look at the paintings produced, it is fun to do that while listening to David's music.

The main monthly challenge for artists is run by Robyn and Suzanne, they always come up with amazing ideas! The latest one is a wide format painting which will become the site banner for 4 months.

I also want to say a thank you to those who have clicked the donation button to support pmp, this is very much appreciated.

Another way to support the site, is by purchasing our Kindle ebooks. You can read them with the free apps from amazon on a tablet, PC or smartphone of any flavour, and on color kindle devices of course!

As a special incentive, FOR 1 WEEK ONLY the excellent Wildlife Painting Ebook by David Stribbling is reduced in price to just $2.99. (Normal price $4.99) If you have ever wondered exactly how this type of work is produced, now is your chance! If you can, please review on amazon.

Thanks for being a member on PMP, and I wish you a fun and creative Autumn!

Roy Simmons.

Milwaukee Sketch Club 2 blocks west of Steaming Cup in Waukesha

It was too nice of a Fall day to spend in doors. So we went west on Main street and parked right before Veterans park near a wood and stone bridge going over the Fox River. It may be connected to the rest of the downtown Waukesha River walk. It was partly cloudy, then sunny at times. Beautiful Fall colors. A lot to see and paint.

Mill Bluff Park & Hwy 80 north of Elroy

Some beautiful pictures from Margo now living in northern Wisconsin.
Maybe we should make a plein air painting trip up north next October!

From: Margo Wolfe <wolfe0472@gmail.com>
10/12/14

Hello
I thought I would share a few photos from this past weekend fall color trip (use them if you wish).  Roy and I went up near Camp Douglas to Mill Bluff Park and then went southwest to connect up with Hwy 80 north of Elroy and then on to Hwy 33/Hwy 12 into Baraboo and back home.  In all we were on/off the road for about 5-6 hours, enough driving for me.

I think I got a few ideas for paintings.  Found a few places for plein air painting.  Also found an apple farm called Juicy Fruit Apple Orchard on Hwy 80 that sells Macoun apples.  Never heard of this apple so here is a little info.  - A crossbreed of the McIntosh and Jersey Black cultivars, the Macoun apple is regarded as one of the best all-purpose cooking apples around. This dark red fruit with creamy white flesh is crisp, tender and perfect for sauce. It has a sweet, rich apple flavor with hints of berry.
I will be going back next year in October to get a lot more than what we got this time.  Roy isn't an apple eater but he really likes these.

Enjoy the photos!
If you want me to resend any of these with a larger image size let me know.
Please pass along the email to Arline.
Margo

Hi All,

Here’s the plan for One of a Kind At the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

                oneofakindshowchicago.com

The date chosen is Sun. Dec. 7.
Hours are from 10 am - 5 pm.
Event admission is $12.
Round trip bus fare is $20.

We would depart the College Av Park and Ride lot at 8 am and return to the Park And Ride at 7 pm.

Respond as soon as you can by Nov. 9 so I know if there are enough passengers to make this happen.
After that the payment for the bus will be due on Nov. 16.
There will be no refunds of bus fare unless I have a replacement for you from a wait list.
Event tickets will be purchased at the Merchandise Mart by each individual when you arrive.

Hi All,
Recently, I was asked by a few people about Chicago trips.
Below are the addresses for two events.

S.O.F.A. would be Sat.Nov.8 or Sun. Nov 9.
One of a kind would be Sat. Dec 6 or Sun. Dec 7

I will check out the price of the bus when I know if there is enough interest. I would think it would still be approx $20 per person round trip.

If anyone is interested in going again let me know and how many people you will be bringing.
Tell me which event and day you prefer or if you prefer to do both and I will see what I can do.
What the majority decides is what will be done.

To hold the price down we will need about 55 riders.
If we have less than 55 people we could still go as long as you know the price would be higher.

Seats will be first come first serve, no refunds unless we have a wait list to rpelce you.

If anyone has received this in error i apologize.

Thanks
al
