Milwaukee Sketch Club at Minooka Park in Waukesha on 8/26/09
In the early morning it looked like it was going to rain but by the time we got to Minooka Park it was sunny. However you can tell fall is coming because there was a brisk breeze and it was cool in the shade.

Is anyone interested in doing a Plein Air Outing in Villa Terrace Museum?
Hello All,
FYI - They would prefer us not to use the oil medium on their premises and this outing would have to be strictly outside.
While we were doing the Plein Air outing Wednesday in the Villa Terrace neighborhood we walked passed the Villa Terrace Museum. While looking in at their courtyard we started talking about having an outing for all of us on the premises, outside at the museum.
Today I was in contact with their events planner, Judith. Here is the scoop. There is a cost of $3-4 depending on if it is during hours or not. Open hours are Wed-Sat 1-5pm, Sunday thru Sept. 10-5. In September during the week would be best per their schedule and she would need a two week notice so she can schedule the time.
The only Sunday (or Saturday) morning available in September would be September 13th, but we would have to let her know very soon.

Milwaukee Sketch Club in Downtown Greendale
The weather was perfect. Several people painted near the gazebo, some people took the path from the park that went behind the houses, one person painted on his car on the street in a neighborhood. Also there was the clock tower, a stream running with rocks running underneath the bridges... Lots of neat areas to paint.
Some more suggestions for Plein Air Outings: Veterans Park, Scout Lake off of Loomis, Crystal Ridge, Holy Hill.
If anyone has some other places they'd like to sketch and paint, just email msc1922@gmail.com

Wednesday Plein Air Outing Location has changed for Milwaukee Sketch Club
Hello all,
We are going to repeat the June 13th outing for Downtown Greendale. http://www.discovergreendale.com/
See you there Wednesday at Downtown Greendale!
We will not be going to the Paul Davidson Restoration building!
We have found out there is some construction going on where we were going to meet to paint.
We are going to meet at the Greendale public library at the south end of Broad Street. The area has a fountain (in between shops), shops that have flower gardens and trees on the steet side of the parking lots in front of them, a gazebo park (adjacent across the steet from the library), older quaint homes on side streets on both sides of Broad Street south of the library where you see Crocus Ct, Dale Ln, Currant Ln on the map. Some of these homes are multi-family homes that remind me of lake side cottages. There is plenty of parking near the library or in front of any of the shops. The small park has plenty of older trees in which to find some shade to set up too.
See you there Wednesday at Downtown Greendale!

Milwauke Sketch Club at Wehr Nature Center
It was a very nice day. No rain! This was an OK place but I think the parking lot on top of the hill near the waterfall is a better place on Mallard Lake. Coneflowers, beebalm, lillies and other flowers were in bloom.
Some places that might be fun to paint: Harley Davidson Museum, Juno Park, Lapham Peak.
James Hempel Classes, Plein workshops, Demos......
North Woods Minoqua plein air workshop at Florie Enders cabin on Spider Lake August 20-22nd. Florie has 4 bunks and 2 futons still available, or there are motels within 10 minutes for those who prefer privacy.
Two daylong plein air workshops this month. One in town (marina, lakefront) on Friday August 7th, and one in the country on Friday, August 14th. In addition I will offer one night plein air painting workshop in Cedarburg , on Sunday August 9th!

Milwaukee Sketch Club will be at Todd Wehr Nature Center this Wednesday
Hello All
Next Wednesday we will be meeting at Todd Wehr Center. This is a nature center that is in Whitnall Park that also includes Boerner Botanical Gardens. The actual road that is marked is Nature Center Drive (north/south) off of College(east/west). You have to turn into this road on the south side of College and go all the way to the end to get to their parking lot. Their parking lot costs $3. If anyone does not want to pay this then you can go on the 92 street side of Mallard lake and take a long walk around it on the trail until you find us. The facility includes the following list from the web site http://www.friendsofwehr.org/ :
- Twenty acre Mallard Lake with three islands, completed in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, there is a waterfall on the north end of the lake that you can access a lot easier from a parking lot on Whitnall Park Drive off of 92nd Street mentioned above.
- Wetlands that include sedge meadow, shrub carr and floodplain forest, accessible via a 1,700 foot boardwalk, featuring two piers and a bird blind
- Restored Oak Savanna and Prairie
- Maple and Oak Woodlands
- Over five miles of looping trails and interpretive signage
- Visitor Center
See you there Wednesday.

Milwaukee Sketch Club Saturday Plein Air on KK ave & Bay St. in Bayview
Well we actually started going to Barnacle Bud's & Milwaukee Harbor Yacht Club but we couldn't find them near Stewart & Gilbert, so we met at KK & Stewart by this real cute building that might have been a Northwestern station at one time. North of this building was a bridge that opens, St. Mary's Cement factory (2000 s KK) & riverboats but it was pretty windy on the bridge so we went a couple blocks south on KK ave to this little park at Archer & KK. The houses were very neat looking there. Then it started to rain so we went next door to the out of business Omega Burger and stood under their overhang facing the Bay Street Pub on Bay street and painted the neighborhood. It didn't rain very hard or long but remained overcast at a comfortable temperature. Lot of bikers & walkers.
On the way home saw Cupertino Park http://maps.google.com/maps?
